PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Ocean University Medical Center

Purpose
PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Program Description
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Ocean University Medical Center is an extensive 12-month program designed to develop a confident, well-rounded and independent pharmacy practitioner. Our program is designed to incorporate the interests and goals of the individual resident while ensuring a broad hospital pharmacy practice experience in a community teaching setting. The resident will be exposed to a wide variety of patient care settings through robust core learning experiences and will become an integral part of the interdisciplinary teams. Our team of dedicated pharmacists will build on the resident’s education and help develop the necessary skills to be an effective and confident clinical practitioner. At the beginning of the residency, each resident will be paired with a mentor who will provide guidance and support throughout the residency program. In addition, the resident will complete the Teaching and Learning Certificate Program and will have the opportunity to precept pharmacy students.

During the program, the resident will also receive Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Throughout the residency program, the resident will demonstrate professional growth by becoming an independent practitioner with the commitment to the profession of pharmacy. Upon completion of the program, the resident will be able to provide pharmaceutical care and drug therapy management to a diverse patient population with a wide range of disease states and will be eligible for board certification or PGY2 practice training. We would like to welcome you to learn more about our ASHP accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program that participates in the National Matching Service.
