Trauma Injuries

Orthopedic Injury Care

Trauma cases are often complicated, and treating them requires quick thinking that is based deep knowledge and extensive experience. Our surgeons are experts in assessing a case and making decisions about the right treatment approach for patients who are seriously injured. Our general surgery, hand surgery, spine surgery, and neurosurgery trauma teams work collaboratively to address the medical and surgical needs of each person who comes through the doors of our Emergency Department.

The Trauma Surgery team treats more than 2,000 patients each year.

Our trauma centers have also achieved Disease Specific Certification from the Joint Commission for our treatment of hip fractures, particularly in older patients. We have created treatment regimens designed to reduce the impact of hip fractures on patients’ health and decrease the risk of related death. Every patient age 65 and older who comes to the Emergency Department with a hip fracture receives a consultation with a geriatrician and referrals to follow-up care as needed.
