Next comes a three-stage approach that can aid in success, and result in a happy, productive life.

Stage 1: Detoxification

Alcohol detox may be needed immediately after discontinuing alcohol use and can be a medical emergency. This is because detox can result in withdrawal seizures, hallucinations, confusion, and in some cases, death. Without proper medical treatment and supervision, alcohol detox and withdrawal can be extremely uncomfortable, even dangerous.
