Injury Prevention Programs

Provided by Jersey Shore University Medical Center

Trauma Injury Prevention focuses on reducing the risk of serious injuries through education, outreach, and advocacy. As community liaisons, we work closely with local partners, schools, first responders, and organizations to identify safety needs and deliver impactful programs. Our goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to make safer choices and build stronger, injury-free communities.

We already offer a variety of programs focused on topics like falls prevention, pedestrian safety, helmet use, and more, and we're always looking to expand our impact. If you're interested in registering for any of the programs listed below—or have a unique safety need in your community—we welcome the opportunity to collaborate and develop tailored programming to meet those needs. Together, we can build safer, healthier communities.

Programs for All

Trauma offers fall prevention strategies across the lifespan by addressing the physical, psychological, and environmental factors that contribute to falls. From early childhood to older adulthood, trauma-informed care helps identify individuals at risk, promote safe mobility, and reduce fear of falling.

By integrating fall prevention into trauma care—whether in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or community programs—health professionals can improve recovery outcomes, enhance quality of life, and reduce the long-term impact of injury across all ages.

We promote pedestrian safety across the lifespan through engaging presentations, interactive games, and hands-on activities tailored to all age groups. Our programs are designed to educate and empower individuals to make safer choices on the road. In addition, we provide real-time information and critical resources to trauma patients, supporting their recovery and helping prevent future incidents.

What would you do if you came across someone who had a life threatening bleeding injury? Did you know that people can bleed to death in five minutes or less, long before professional rescuers arrive? Lives have been saved in our community by people who have used the skills learned in this course.

Free of charge for organizations inquiring to host the course. We can offer this in both private and community settings.

High school students in Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex Counties can earn service hours by working on trauma injury prevention projects or helping community partners. Projects can be short or long-term, and we encourage students to pick ones that match their interests or career goals. Along with service hours, they’ll gain valuable skills, mentorship, and connections—plus, it’s a great experience to include on college or job applications.

This program helps high school students recognize their own power to prevent traumatic injuries and make safe choices. It covers practical tips like safe driving practices, using seat belts correctly, and avoiding risky behaviors like distracted or impaired driving. The goal is to empower students to make decisions that protect themselves and others, both on and off the road.
