Meet Our Faculty

Daniel Cruz, Ph.D., ABPP
Behavioral Scientist/Psychologist Mountainside Family Medicine Residency Program Dr. Cruz completed an APA accredited internship at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC). He is a Child and Adolescent Services Board-Certified Counseling Psychologist (ABPP-Co), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and an Assistant Professor, Professional Psychology and Family Therapy (PPFT). His interests are anxiety, depression, PTSD, multicultural counseling and addictions. Dr. Cruz is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and General Practice at St. George’s University.

Everett W. Schlam, M.D.
Assistant Director Mountainside Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program

Dr. Schlam is a graduate of the Rutgers Medical School – Camden. He is an alumnus of the Mountainside Family Medicine Residency who served as a Chief Resident. He completed a fellowship in Faculty Development at The Institute for Urban Family Health and obtained a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine and Adolescent Medicine. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor - Department of Family Medicine, New Jersey Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and -School of Osteopathic Medicine. He’s also Chair and Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine. Dr. Schlam is a Core Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.

AnnGene Anthony, M.D., MPH, FAAFP

Dr. Anthony is a graduate of Rutgers University – New Jersey Medical School (NJMS). She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Brown University/Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island Family Medicine residency program. In addition, she also completed a Master’s degree in Public Health and a fellowship in Faculty Leadership Development at Brown. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Rutgers – NJMS. Her interests include curriculum development for graduate medical education, women’s health (non-OB) and chronic disease management.

Preethi George, M.D.
Faculty Attending Mountainside Family Practice Residency Program

Dr. George attended Miraj Medical College and completed her residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. George is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and General Practice at St. George’s University. She is also a Core Assistant Professor at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine; and , Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, and Clinical Instructor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Valery Vera-Connolly, M.D.
Faculty Attending Mountainside Family Practice Residency Program

Dr. Valery Vera-Connolly received her undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University and her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She is a Core Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and General Practice at St. George’s University.
