Program Overview

Welcome to the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center, the principal teaching hospital for the new Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. This three-year training program prepares our graduates to become academic clinicians and clinician scientists.

Fellows will have a broad exposure to the full spectrum of diagnoses in the fields of hematology, oncology, transplant, and research. With a large volume and variety of patients, a comprehensive teaching program, and an emphasis on the fellow’s responsibility for patient care, the program develops extremely competent, confident, and well-trained fellows with bright career futures.

Our vast catchment area and diversity of expertise amongst our faculty, coupled with a vibrant pediatric residency program and academic research, provides an ideal setting for our pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship program.

Program leadership aims to provide the fellows with the highest quality training while maintaining awareness of the need for continued growth as individuals. All clinical rotations will be at the state-of-the-art and child friendly Children’s Hospital, with research rotations at the Center for Discovery and Innovation. The fellows will be supervised by 11 full-time hematology/oncology faculty and will collaborate with more than 100 full-time experienced pediatric faculty, representing all pediatric subspecialties, as well as advanced practice nurses, nurses, social workers, child life therapists, nutritionists, radiologists, respiratory therapists, and many more. We have a long-standing commitment to promoting diversity in the pediatric workforce through recruitment of under-represented minorities in medicine.
