Auxiliary Partners
The Auxiliary of Hackensack University Medical Center was founded in 1888, one year prior to the medical center’s creation. Fueled by a strong commitment to volunteerism, this group has generated significant contributions to support programs and initiatives throughout its rich history. The auxiliary's impact is visible throughout the campus, having supported virtually every key program and service, including:
- Pediatric Emergency Department at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital
- John Theurer Cancer Center
- Heart & Vascular Hospital
- Sarkis and Siran Gabrellian Women's and Children's Pavilion
One of the ways in which the auxiliary funds these vital projects is through sales at the gift shops within Hackensack University Medical Center.
The Corner Shop, located in the Banta Lobby, offers a unique shopping experience, providing a wonderful array of personal gifts such as jewelry, handbags, scarves and decorative items for the home. Brighten a patient’s day with stuffed animals, toys, games, balloons, floral arrangements, greeting cards and seasonal decorations. The shop is also a convenient source for newspapers, magazines, books, snacks, candy and toiletries.
The Sandra Kissler Women's Shop, located in the Donna A. Sanzari’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital caters to newborns with gifts to mark the occasion of a new arrival. The shop offers preemie and newborn size clothing for those bundles of joy. Items suitable for parents and young siblings are also available in the shop.
The Dr. Earl and Ingrid Doyne Corner Shop, located in the John Theurer Cancer Center, offers both practical and luxury items for our patients, guests and team members. The tranquil, welcoming environment enables our clientele to take a moment away from the clinical setting to enjoy selecting from a wide range of specialty products and beautiful gifts. Though dedicated to serving the unique needs of our cancer patients in particular, the boutique is well-equipped to serve all of our visitors.
Although its fundraising successes on campus may be its most visible aspect, the auxiliary is also involved in activities in Bergen County communities. The Employee Branch of the auxiliary is made up of team member volunteers who host various fundraisers for the medical center and other community-based philanthropic efforts.
It takes a special person to give their time and energy to help others and to embrace the health care needs of an entire region as their own. We invite you to join the Hackensack University Medical Center Auxiliary family. Dues are $20 annually and provide an opportunity to join like-minded individuals who share a commitment to community service. As an added benefit of their service, many of our volunteers have formed life-long friendships while working to further our mission.
